In late 1989, Bobby and I pulled together some friends for what ended up being the final official Windbreakers tour. Joining us were Brad Quinn (bass) and Mark Reynolds (drums), both of Birmingham’s excellent Carnival Season, and Mark Wyatt (keyboard) of Great Plains, who’d played on much of “At Home with Bobby & Tim,” the recently-released album (DB95) for which we were touring.
This audience recording, which was kindly offered to us last year by its originator Geoff Ginsberg, caught in pretty fine form, I have to say. We’d been on the road for a couple weeks at that point, and our ragtag conglomeration had gelled. We were rocking, and we were clearly having a good time, no doubt with the help of the Anheuser-Busch company.
Now, three decades later, Bobby needs our help. A couple weeks back, he was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. And while his overall prognosis is not clear yet, he has been in the hospital, thus out of work.
We are asking for a suggested donation of $10 to download this recording, but we encourage you to give any extra that you can. Every penny collected will go directly to Bobby and his wife Wendy to help with living expenses.
Positive thoughts, y’all …
